Ok, why do some of them suck?

I was trying to be a smartarse with the digital camera. I can normally take photos without the flash and then enhance them up so that they look good. However, on this night, to save camera space, I also turned the images quality down. It is not possible to do the enhancing without 'best' quality image. Damn.
