My First Time

Just thought that I'd send you a message to say that I went to the con
and enjoyed it quite a lot disregarding any stuff ups on the first
day where they took forever to set things up and then I found out my
GM wasn't turning up for the first two sessions. I won two medals,
one was for best team playing "too much of a good thing" - the
xena game, then I won a medal for best player for "the halls of gods"-
freeform. Anyways it was my first con and I had heaps of fun.

Highlights from Arcanacon: The short, short version.

What I won:
- A certificate (along with Rob, Gab, and Ian) for "Mine eyes have seen
the horror".
- A certificate for going through the most characters in
"Zombie... the final conflict".
- A medal for being killed the most times (29) in the Paranoia freeform.
- A medal for best team in "Wimbledon 2031" (along with Damien, Ken, Ian
and Benji).
Games I enjoyed alot:
- Wimbledon 2031
- Paranoia
- Mine eyes have seen...
- Zombie, etc, etc...
- Demolition by Proxy (not for the faint of heart, or the easily squicked)
Low point of the Con:
- The Chaosium Masters:
Elric was too linear, and Cthulhu... Let's just
say, a guy we'd never met came up to us (in game) 15 minutes
before the end of the session and told us where the
beastie was and how to kill it. Information that
we had no hope of figuring out during the game proper.
I'm not a big fan of games where nothing the players do for
the first 80% of the session matters...
Short Anecdotes about stuff I achieved in various games:
- I stole a bulldozer and assisted in the rebuilding of the
Thames flood barrier (Wimbledon 2031).
- I caused the destruction of the Earth (using the know skill) in
Zombie (and then got to repopulate the human race with Kate :).
- I ate a hotel to avoid paying the bill (Nefilim).
- I lost 133% of my starting Sanity and helped Cthuga destroy
a city (Mine eyes have seen...)
- I got all the troubleshooters (10) except myself terminated in one
go (Paranoia)
- I swan dived off a cliff, flying for the very last time (Elric).
- A nice man gave me a piece of red licorice.
I give this years Arc three and a half stars.
Well worth it...
