President's report

Argh, bugger, what, by Thursday night? Yeah,ok.

Famous last words when you say that you'll get a President's report done. Or anything done actually.

Anyway, here goes.

MURP started the year wonderfully - so far this year we have about 110 members, which is up 40 or so from the previous year. More than three quaters of those members have shown up on a Thursday night at least once, and there are at least 40 people involved in regular games on Thursdays.

Things seem to have been going well, people having fun, the camp working well, the Wednesday night seminars attracting a lot of new club members and a huge chunk of the tournaments for Capricon being written by 1st year members.

A few of our activities have been limited by the fact that we were only provisional affliliates with Clubs and Societies. However, with the new semester starting, we are back to full affiliates, and can claim the full benefits from their generous sponsorship.

Hopefully the exams and the following break have allowed people to regenerate their enthusiasm for roleplaying, because this semester we have a stack planned.

Most important is Capricon. Without members supporting it, Capricon will die, and badly, doing a lot to ruin MURP's reputation around Melbourne (and we do have a good one).

Close behind Capricon though are the camp and the infernal torments. These need your participation to work, not because you feel you have to, but because we hope you want to join in with them. And if you don't, please, don't just drift away, come and tell us what's wrong with the MURP activities, and what you'd prefer to be doing...

If anyone has an idea for a scenario, but they're not sure whether its good enough to run at a non-Monash convention, yell out - an infernal torment can be organised in two weeks, and the wide spread of roleplaying styles at Monash can give you a good idea on how your ideas are being received.

This applies to all aspects of MURP - if you have a good idea for something related to roleplaying - come and tell one of the committee or mention it at a committee meeting, and we'll see if its possible for us to do... the club is there for the members, not the committee and their friends.

All in all, I guess I just want people to have fun at MURP.
