Despite months of controversy, and few people commenting "that's so silly", we can finally present the winners of the MURP Wet Trenchcoat competition for 1999.
As you know, the rules of the competition are quite specific. The trenchcoat must be of a dark colour, and it must be naturally soaked, preferably in a sudden downpour, catching the wearer unaware (so to speak).
This year's competition was fierce, and the competitors allegedly resorted to dirty tricks such as the traditional stealing of a trenchcoat, hypnotism to ensure any coat was left at work and the lowest of the low, offering a lift in a car so as to remove a chance to enter the competition.
Nonetheless, the judges were presented with a fine field of bedraggled bodies, soaked to the skin, drenched and dripping, wet to the waist and annoyed with alliteration. Judging was based on the extent of dampness compared to the size of the coat, hair dye leakage if any and the collateral damage to any carried goods.
