Weekly Gaming Nights.

As last semester, Thursday nights are to be our usual meeting time. Unlike last semester, this semester we have managed to book the Conference Room for the entire semester (except Union nights).

The first weekly night is the first Thursday of the new semester - July 20th. It is quite often this night that a range of new games start, so if you have an interest in playing regularly, or better still want to start a new game, this is the night to be there.

Informal Nights

As then, so now. Last semester, we first tried the concept of having 2 nights a week of club activities regularly, and soon built up a core of people who came every week.

So to continue in that thread, we have booked the Conference Room for Tuesday nights, and intend to grab some more really bad videos, and host some more roleplaying seminars, partially with an aim to improve/playtest Capricon scenarios, but open to anyone with any ideas to come along.

Infernal Torment

Following the sucess of Rigours comes yet another murp infernal torment. This time it will be held on Thursday July 27th, and will be proceeded by a barbeque at the Sports & Rec barbeques.

What's the game? Well, we haven't decided, and any volunteers (other than Smurf Paranoia) will be greatly appreciated. Possibilities include Cthulhu from Arcanacon, AD&D, Werewolf....

Camp

Another camp? Inconceivable. But yes. Last semester, 25 or so people got lost on the way to Portsea to come to the MURP camp. Some of them were fooled into believing there was roleplaying to be had, others had just got their license and decided to drive all over Melbourne.

Everyone had a chirpy weekend, some more than others, where jaffles and alcohol and peas and corn flowed freely.

So it has been decreed that yet another MURP camp is to be had, this one with roleplaying! There will be a tournament, and possibly prizes, as well as pre-organised games for people to play. These are not compulsory, so if you just want an excuse to relax, you're welcome too.

The camp will be held from August the 4th to August the 6th, at the Lord Mayor's Children's Camp, at Portsea. Within this 'tator, you should find a copy of a camp attendance form. Please fill it out and return it to one of the committee (to be designated) on or before the 28th of July. It is not necessary to pay right then, but we need to know if you are coming or not.

MURP sport.

Legends tell of a time when MURP came together on a Sunday and quested forth to play sport. Many were the ankle wounds, and the bowling over and the picking up of players...

So once again we feel that the time has come. Sometime in early August MURP will organise a sporting event of popular choice and force you to come and eat barbequed food and play the game.

Suggestions so far: indoor soccer, football and poison ball. Anyone got any ideas?

CAPRICON V

Repeat after me: I will come to Capricon V. Because we know where you live, if you don't.

Capricon is MURP's own tournament, our chance to show off what roleplaying and GMing abilities we have. This year, the Weird And Novel Gaming CONvention is to be held in September, from the 22nd to the 24th. 9 tournaments are being held, as well as a Tragic, erm Magic:the Gathering card tournament and a freeform, the majority of which have been written and will be run by MURP members.

So, for the rest of you, your mission, if you choose not to have your kneecaps broken, is to come along and play the games that are being run and have fun, or if you want to help us run it, to call Andy Smith (9848 9178) and offer your services.

Convention booklets will be thrust upon you all second semester by committee members at every oppurtunity, or can be found in most of the games shops around Melbourne (and Sydney).

Post-Capricon Dinner

To celebrate a sucessful Capricon and to relax afterwards, we have planned a Post-Capricon Dinner at a venue and on a date to be annouced. The cost is guestimated at about $25 per person at most.
