The Story So Far
Journeying in Throughmist, the wizard OTTO (Gavin), his companion
Lady COSETTE the sorceress (Liz), her apprentice TANDAL (Andy),
and his elder brother FRANCISCO (Dave), paused in the sleepy farming
town of GNARLO. There, they were accosted by a man claiming to be the
retainer of a Duchess. This man - Sergeant Nicholas WELNYS - sought
passage for himself and his cargo to distant JERVIA. The cargo
remained undisclosed, as did the man's prime motivation for the journey;
however - seeing as how times are tough for two travelling magicians and
their entourage, and given that the man was prepared to pay large sums of
silver (in cash) for their protection on his travels - the four readily
agreed to escort him thence. They were joined in this by two locals: the
would-be knight, GERALDO (Jay) and the mysterious wood-carver
ADOLPHUS (Aidan). The departure time was set for dawn, and the group
each went about their business in preparation for what should be an eight
week trip.
Although the travellers know little of each other, the following has been
gleaned from the previous day's meeting:
- Otto: Strangely quiet, in a knowledgeable sort of way. Here would appear to be a man comfortable in his role in life, and eminently sensible.
- Cossette: The aging sorceress, hard of hearing and extremely stubborn. Likes to think she is in control of the situation - whatever that may be - even if she doesn't quite understand it yet.
- Tandal: A child of less than eight years. Apprenticed to Lady Cossett and eager to learn more of the ways of magic. Mistreated by both his Master and elder brother.
- Francisco: Little more than a common hood, eager to save his brother from the clutches of the sorceress. Mistrustful of magic and of his companions. Likes to be in control but lacks the intellect to really be so.
- Geraldo: Eager to impress a real knight with his prowess, for one day he hopes to become one. Mistrusted by some of his companions due to unconfirmed reports about sexual preference.
- Adolphus: An expert with the throwing knife, and deft with wood carving tools, little more is known of this enigmatic former circus performer.
- Welnys: Surely the odd one out in this motley group. Well bred, but needs an escort to Jervia. These incompetent mercenaries will have to do the job, as he can't wait around for a real escort to arrive in this backwater.
