Capricon VI

Fairly soon, I guess most people are going to be a little tired of hearing about Capricon, but it really is important to the club. Not only is it a neat source of income, usually supplying the cash we need to buy more roleplaying material, but it also gives people from MURP the chance to write for a Con without putting their egos on the line at a big Con like Conquest or Arcanacon.

Capricon really does draw people from all over the place - its not just club members that attend. We regularily get people from Geelong, Echuca and Bendigo coming down for the whole weekend. These people are regular Con goers, so rumours of good games spread quickly.

Capricon isn't just for the writers and GMs at MURP tho - a reasonable slab of the people who go to Arcanacon and Conquest with MURP cut their teeth at Capricon, easing into the normal rush and hurry that a Con generates. Cons really are a shitload of fun - the No Sleep, No Surrender attitude to the whole enterprise, 2kg of glucose and a lot of really good games all add up to something really neat.

Anyway, at this point of the year, Capricon is mostly in the planning stages. So far we have four guaranteed games (Vampire, Werewolf, Cthulhu, Space 1889), with room for at least 4 more. We'd like to give preference to MURP members to write, but to do that, we need to know if you actually are interested. Even if you only have a vague interest, come and talk to me (Damien, 98881722) at some point, and we can chat about what you'd like to do. If you're not sure whether your idea for a scenario will work, playtest it at MURP - Monday nights are almost made for this sort of thing, and at least one tryout will be running in second semester.

How much$5 registration, $3 late fee, $2 per session.

Scenarios are generally only one session in length (2.5 to 3 hours) and have between 3 and 6 players. Writers are probably best advised to keep to well-known or systemless games. Writers are responsible for the organisation of their games, and the ConOrg is armed if you stuff him around.
