Traditionally most publishing companies have provided some degree of support for the roleplaying hobby, whether it is was prizes at Cons or sponsoring the Cons themselves. It was never assumed they were doing it for any reason other than profit, but nonetheless, the hobby was invigourated by their efforts.
Now, with flagging profits and a rapidly altering customer base, the question has been asked - how much support do roleplayers owe back to the companies that produce their games?
