- Pizza and Soccer - 27th FEB:
- Come and eat pizza near the lake at Halls and meet other
old and new members. And just to prove we're not all unfit geeks,
we've got an indoor soccer match ready to go, MURP style (no skill necessary).
- Infernal Torment - 2nd MARCH:
- The first of several tournaments that MURP runs within its
own ranks (details on the actual scenario will appear on the notice board soon). Come along and win a fabulous MURP jumper! Wonderful if
you have some painting that needs doing! Also includes a free BBQ.
More Infernal tournaments will be on later in the year. If
you want to write for them, or indeed write anything, just tell one
of the committee, and it will be set in motion.
- Regular Gaming Nights - Thursdays
- These are the nights where we actually roleplay. Thursday
nights, upstairs in the Union building, at 6:30pm (Some nights we
are forced to go to Sports & Rec - there shall be a sign up on the
notice board these nights). However, most people meet for tea (or to
watch The Simpsons) before we start playing. If there is enough
interest, it may be possible to organise a junkfood run for Maccas,
Chinese or whatever people feel like on the night.
There are already several games planned and open to people
who want to play. You are welcome to join those, or start your own.
Look in the library for new games and supplements. If you've ever
been curious about a system, here's your chance.
These nights start at 6:00, and usually go through till after
10pm. If you have any troubles with transport, please, don't just
not come - ask around for a lift. If we can't get you home, we can
at least get you to a train station.
- Informal stuff nights
- Once semester starts we intend to run a series of informal gatherings (the actual night of the week will be subject to the availability of rooms). This is your social night - come along, meet exciting people. We'll be
hiring a VCR and telly - tell us what you want to watch, or we'll decide.
Feel free on these nights to play boardgames, write and plan your games, discuss the seminars with people (see below), or what ever takes your fancy.
- Seminars
- During the semester, we've asked a collection of
people who have roleplayed and made money from it to come in and talk
about how to write roleplaying scenarios, how to run them well, and
how to get them published. Our guests include: Liam & Juddy Rout, Marion
Anderson, Phil Anderson, Richard Watts, Penny Love... and whoever else
we have blackmail on (At this stage we don't have dates)
- Conquest Gaming Convention - 13th to 17th April
- Conquest is a convention held at Uni High in Melbourne every
Easter. There is a wide variety of games, from single session
to 3 or 4 session games, as well as a large amount of wargaming. This
year MURP will be sending teams to play, hopefully with funding from
C&S (i.e. we will be asking C&S to pay some of your costs). If you see a
game that you'd like to play, give us details, and
we'll make up teams to go. (You can get Convention booklets from most
game shops). If you have ever wanted to try out a new game or meet
lots of other gamers (all sorts of sizes, sexes and systems),
this is the event for you.
- The MURP Camp - 12th to 14th MAY
-
Come! Roleplay! For an entire weekend! Get away from your family!
Bring your family!
Details are being finalised as we speak, but you can put your
money on the following: The camp will be at Lord Mayor's camp at Portsea.
The entire weekend is devoted to having fun, with roleplaying squeezed
in. Lifts will be available, there and back even.
More details forthcoming.
- Arcanacon XIII - 6th to 9th July
- As with Conquest, we'll be sending teams to Arcanacon XIII.
Further details as we get closer to July
- Capricon 95 - Date to be announced
- This is our tournament. We're already planning scenarios
and the rooms are booked. If you want to write, GM or help out in some other way - DO!
